Why choose St. Paul the Apostle School?

St. Paul the Apostle School Grand Rapids, is a smaller school with a family feel and committed teachers and staff who help develop the potential in every student. Our smaller size means that your child – every child – receives the individual attention required to develop maturity and self-confidence. It’s not unusual for a teacher, regardless of grade, to know the name of every student at our school. Nor is it unusual to see graduates, fully engaged in the demands of their high school or college educations, taking time to come back to thank those teachers. This loving and caring environment allows us to offer every student a Christ-centered education that is challenging and dynamic.

Education for Living, Faith for Life

We offer your children a firm foundation – both academic and spiritual – to see them through high school, college, and life.

Rooted in faith

  • Weekly Children’s Liturgy – All grades attend. Each week a specific grade coordinates the Mass celebration. Students take part as Readers, Altar Servers, Gift Bearers, Cantors, and Prayer Leaders.
  • Choir – Our Choir programs (3rd/4th/5th and Junior High) offer opportunities to develop self-confidence and leadership skills through cantoring in weekly school and weekend liturgies.
  • Christmas Program – Every K-8 student participates in the annual Christmas Program, providing many opportunities for students to shine as individuals and as members of small and large interactive groups.

Rich in tradition

  • Talent Show - Sponsored by The Student Council, this annual event welcomes auditions by all students.
  • 8th Grade/Parents Basketball game - 8th Graders play their parents on the Monday of Catholic Schools Week.
  • Elementary Traditions - Poem Day, All Saints Parade, 2nd Grade Business, Iditarod Project, Character Day, Camp Manitoulin.
  • Junior High Play – Every junior high student participates in this annual production. Auditions are held for several roles, including solo singing performances.
  • Student Council Officers - At the beginning of the school year, 8th Grade students participate in a school-wide election process to elect four Student Council Officers. Each grade also elects two Student Council representatives to assist the 8th Grade leaders with projects throughout the year.

Renowned for achievement
We encourage and support academic excellence at every grade level, and nowhere is that more evident than in our Junior High program, as we prepare students for the academic challenges of high school and college.

  • Our Junior High Program consistently ranks among the highest in the Grand Rapids Diocese based on Iowa Testing and Michigan state performance testing results.
  • Science Olympiad - Our Junior High students compete and win at Regional and State-level events.
  • St. Paul the Apostle graduates maintain their academic performance in high school and college. 89% earn academic honors in high school and the majority are accepted by their university of choice upon graduation.
  • Spiritual engagement - Junior High students begin each religion class with different prayers according to the liturgical season, providing a rich prayer experience that serves them well in life.
  • Community service - Junior High students visit the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans several times a year and participate in painting windows, bingo games, and delivering gifts/cards throughout the area.
  • Fierce competitors - Nearly 100% of our Junior High students participate in school-sponsored athletic competition.
