6th Grade Homeroom and Language Arts News

p=. *The Junior High Language Arts Classroom

I am Kathleen Lowing, the sixth grade homeroom teacher and the Language Arts teacher for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I have been teaching junior high for thirty years; twenty eight of these have been with the Grand Rapids Diocese.

I am actively involved in the teaching of reading and writing. Words come to life in my classroom. Writing and reading cannot be separated and are ongoing and exciting. Because I am blessed to have your precious children for three years, I carry them through these years bridging the years from sixth grade to high school building carefully the necessary tools and skills your child needs to become confident and proficient in the Language Arts.

Our main areas of study include Literature, Vocabulary, Writing, English Grammar, and Spelling. All of these areas are closely interrelated, and, at the same time, we study them separately, too. In the junior high years, we are learning the very grammar skills we are editing in our writing!
